Artist's Description

The most visited area of Utah's Capitol Reef National Park is the Fruita Historic District. In the late 1800s, Mormon settlers chose this valley as the location for a small farming community. Many orchards, along with a schoolhouse and the iconic barn, were built beneath the towering red rock cliffs and along the Fremont River. The property was purchased by the National Park Service in the 1960s.

A grayscale version of this image is available in my "Black and White" gallery.
